1 Sep 2022. Thursday.
Weather forecast for Stanserhorn, 12 to 14 degrees celsius.
Unlike other days, we felt cool today. Lots of clouds passing us while we were hiking at the Stanserhorn mountain. We have to put on our sweater to keep us warm. When the sun came out of the clouds, we felt warm but felt nothing like what we experienced in Iseltwald or Grindelwald where our skin was sunburnt.
An attraction that I searched to make full use of our Swiss Travel Pass since we paid so much for it. It was theCABRIO CABLEWAY, the roofless cable car that attracted me.
The Stanserhorn is a mountain in Switzerland, located about 1 hour away from Lucerne, with the peak at 1,898 metres (6,227 ft) above sea level. The Swiss Travel Pass covers all transportation cost including funicular and cable car ride all the way to the mountain top.
It took less than 2 hours to reach Stancerhorn from Zurich. We took a train to Lucerne, transfer to another train to Stans train station. From Stan train Staion, we walked to Stancerhorn funicular station, took the funicular to Kaelti, transfer to the open top cable car to Stancerhorn mountain. So to say, if we were based in Lucerne, it will be so near to visit this place.
An example of the itinerary of the whole journey including funicular and cable car.
An example of our alternative train journey. Instead for heading straight to Luzern in one train, we have to make a transfer to at Zug for a 2nd train. After the train incident to Rhine Falls, we take note of announcement seriously this time. Then it happened again. An announcement was made about train disruption at Zug after we secured a good seat at Zurich HB station, before the train took off. Without fully understand the message, we picked up our belongings and went down the train. We actually searched for another train and went to another platform, only to know that the 2nd train will face the same issue. We realised that the impact will only affect us at Zug station. Since we have 1 more minute, we ran all the way back to our train again. So lucky we were able to enter the train before the door close in time, otherwise we will need to wait for another hour for the next train. Due to some train disruption between Zurich HB and Lucerne Station, we have to transfer to a local train at Zug station. The transfer actually did not affect our journey that much. Just that the local train was more crowded thats all.
Stancerhorn Station- where we took the funicular. A short stroll from Stans train station, we arrived at Stancerhorn Station. There were signboards showing direction towards Stancerhorn Station. Will not get loss.
The funicular. Lots of locals visited this place. We were asked to wait for the 2nd funicular since the 1st one was crowded. Only a short wait, the next funicular arrived and we went for the open seat.
The funicular journey was about 10 minutes, quite long and enjoyable. We passed by large open field passing cows in open filed. At Kaelti station, we were ushered to the open top cable car - The Cabrio Cabel way. All of us climbed via the circular stairs in the cable car to the 2nd deck for a feel of the open air while travelling in the sky. We were unlucky (so called) that day, we were not able to view any scenery as it was cloudy. Clouds blocked our view when we ascent upwards, this made it more amazing, like we were travelling into the infinity.
The Stancerhorn cable car station. Coincidentally, we were able to view the station when the cable car reach the mountain in another 10 minutes. Look, the clouds were below the station. Money cannot buy these experience.
The Stancerhorn. We reached the cable car station, viewing deck and restaurant. Toilets are free.
There is a trail for us to hike up the peak. Clouds passed us while we hike up the mountains. Really fun to race against the clouds, take picture when the sky is clear, when clouds looked like cotton below us. So beautiful. I can only spot 1 bird for the whole trip here. Spoken with the ranger here, he told me birds has migrated since weather is turning cold.
Top picture : Peak of Stanserhorn. Bottom picture : View of cable car station, viewing gallery and restaurant from the peak. Reaching this peak was easy. Trail was properly constructed and not very steep.
Barbecue facilities next to the peak.
Decending from the peak, the view is awesome.
Mountain surrounded by the clouds. We can see only the peak of the mountain here. So amazing.
Near the viewing gallery. Cute.
A must do when we visit Stanserhorn. A lunch date with the clouds. Meals here were reasonably priced. About CHF20 per meal.
I really love the casual concept where all diners queue up and pick up the food ourselves. Though the sun was bright, the weather was cool.
Viewing gallery - Singapore, 10325 km away....
Stans town, view on our way back from the funicular.
We have a little walk around Stans town. So charming. We love this place.
Stancerhorn - Enjoy this place in my YouTube video.
Stanserhorn in summary.
Highly recomended to visit.
We enjoyed the funicular ride and Cabrio cableway ride.
Aeon Tebrau shopping mall, JB Malaysia We read that this Mall is twice the size of Aeon Bukit Indah. Though I was able to read blogs on how big it is, I was not able to find its directory. AEON may have its website but I just cannot find its tenant list. So here is the tenant list that I manage to get when I was there recently. Though they have only 3 level, it is big enough for us to walk the whole day, practically shop until we drop. Ground floor 1st floor 2nd floor If you are food lover like me, you will find this place a food heaven. Especially you only pay 1/3 of the price for restaurant food we have to pay over in Singapore. Click here on what we ate at Aeon Tebrau . There are seats for shoppers to rest if you are tired Other than Padini, Uniqlo and other big brands, I found a new Jap brand here. The price range is just like Uniqlo but I feel the material for Co Co is better. Aeon Tebrau, I will come back again. Perhaps when I plan my n
Taipei Day 2 - 10 August 2017 1. Carrefour at Ximending 2. Ah Zhong Mian Xian near Pacific Sogo 太平洋SOGO 忠孝館 3. ATT 4Fun shopping Mall Our 1st day waking up in Taipei, feeling very excited to try whatever we already have in mind in Taipei. 1. Carrefour at Ximending Decided to visit this place as the Top priority as I just love grocery shopping when I am in another country. I love looking at what supermarket sell. Most of the time, I can find fresh fruits and alot of refreshment that we cannot find here. If not, just compare the prices and I can be very happy. You can say I "xiao". But thats me. Following the hint of another blogger, I took exit 1 at Ximending MRT station. Then used the google map to guide me walk there. Its about 10 to 15mins walk. Carrefour building So excited with this. Different kinds of drip coffee at reasonable prices. Chun Tsui coffee/tea. Only at NT22. Singapore is selling at $2.75 to $3+ 😲 Huge mangoes size of a
171202 - This time we walk around the whole reservoir. I guess it is about 11km. Took 4 hours to finish the whole course. Walk around the whole reservoir. Start from Venus Drive, go southwards to MacRitchie Reservoir, continued westward via Lornie Trail, then northwest to Golf Link, east to Sime Track and back to Venus Carpark. We took 4 hours. Feel so good. Spotted durian trees with lots of durian at Drongo Trail. One guy told us he climb and flip over the waist high fence from the boardwalk to check on the top right fruit but realised it has been eaten by some animals. After Drongo Trail, head southwards via MacRiche Nature Trail. You see such scenery until...... Joggers from school running fast n asking ppl to give way to them. That really spoil our peace n slowed down our walk. So it would be better to walk around 4pm if we like to explore this trail. About 1.5 hour time, we reach MacRitchie Reservoir Park. I guess we can do it within 1 hour if not because o
