Lucerne, Switzerland. Day 8/9. 25 Aug to 2 Sep 2022.

1 Sep 2022. Thursday.
Weather was warm, not that hot. Autumn has arrived. We felt the difference from 1st Sep.
Our 9th day will be spent in the airport catching our flight home. So this was our last day of travel in Switzerland.
Chapel Bridge.
I actually wanted to exclude this place in my itinerary due to our packed schedule. Since we need to make a train transfer at Lucerne on our way back to Zurich from Stanserhorn, we decided to do a short visit here.
To get to the Chapel bridge was easy. Cross the street from Lucerne train station, we will see the river with the bridge decorated with pretty flowers.
Chapel Bridge view.
I did a check with Wikipedia as I was wondering why is this place so popular.
Quote from Wiki "The Chapel Bridge is a covered wooden footbridge spanning the river Reuss diagonally in the city of Lucerne in central Switzerland. Named after the nearby St. Peter's Chapel, it is unique in containing a number of interior paintings dating back to the 17th century, although many of them were destroyed along with a larger part of the centuries-old bridge in a 1993 fire. Subsequently restored, the Kapellbrücke is the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe, as well as the world's oldest surviving truss bridge. It serves as the city's symbol and as one of Switzerland's main tourist attractions.

So, the featured painted interior triangular frames.

A view from the bridge. The clear blue water was so inviting.

Was amazed by the variety of birds here.
Black-headed seagulls, Eurasian coot, Mallard nesting in the middle of the river.

The clear water with mallard duck nesting next to the Chapel bridge.

Oh, we were sleepy and tried out the coffee here. The truck was just next to the river. It was good.

Old town street.
After spending so much time in Stanserhorn, we were left with only 2 hours to explore Lucerne. We still managed to get some souvenirs here with our 1 hour shopping time. Shopping here was nice too. Just that we wanted to do some last minute grocery shopping at Zurich, and it took 1 hour for train journey between Zurich and Lucerne, so we need to leave Lucerne by 6pm inorder to reach Zurich by 7pm.

Our last dinner in Switzerland.
Suan Long chinese restaurant at Zurich.
We were left with quite a lot of cash in CHF. So might as well enjoy our last meal.
Not because we must have chinese food today, we were curious how chinese food taste like in Switzerland. We were quite suprised that the meal was pretty yummy. Later we saw the chef walking out of the kitchen, a chinese. No wonder.
Coop at Zurich.
Coop here close at 10pm. It was already close to 9pm after our meal. We "brisk walk" there to get all the things we wanted to bring back home. Yes, plenty of chocolates.

Lucerne in summary.
Another beautiful place with clean, clear blue river.
We enjoyed both scenery and shopping here.
A pity we do not have time to explore here more due to our tight schedule.
A place I do not mind staying here for a few days, travel to somewhere if I visit Switzerland again.

Itinearary at at glance.
