25th August 2022, Thursday, 22 degrees celsius. Sun was very hot. Real feel is like 30 degrees celsius with scorching hot feel on our skin.
Bern, a view of its river from kirchenfeldbrücke(bridge). 25 Aug 2022, Thursday. About 11am. It was about 22 degrees celsius but the sun was so hot that it felt like 30 degrees celsius.
Bern train station was big. We got lost when we arrived. The train staion building was actually next to the train platform. I guessed it was not facing the train platform where we alighted. So we cannot see any name on its building. We ended up in the wrong building(next to the platform) wanting to use the lockers at Migros supermarket. Apparently, Migros staff was not happy to see us. Told us it is not a tourist locker and refuse to speak with us when we seek their help on how to get to the train station building. Nevermind. We head back to the train platforms. Following the signage for SBB information counter, it lead us back to the basement, then through its elevated concerte walkway, via platform 1 to its main building. Lesson learnt - look for platform 1 and information counter for its train station building. At last we were able to find the lockers to keep our bags before we explore the city. Lockers cost CHF12 for XXL where we can squeeze 3 x 24inches lugguages. All information is listed in the SBB website on lockers. https://www.sbb.ch/de/bahnhof-services/am-bahnhof/bahnhoefe/bahnhof-bern.html The price is meant for 6 hours rental.
Zytglogge (Clock Tower) An UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the early 13th century. The reason why we came here. To watch the hourly performance of its figurines since we have about 2 to 3 hours to spare before heading to Zermatt. There are tours to explore the clock tower, but we were not bothered to find out more due to time constriant.
It is interesting to know that in Bern, this street is shared between the pedestrians & vehicles. Once the tram left, people started to walk on the streets. Fill up water botter from the water fountain located in the middle of its street. Sometimes, we see vehicle pass by too, pedestrians will give way. I am not sure if there are any restriction for using this road. I noticed that further down the road it was more busy with vehicles. Also, the buildings may look old. There are plenty of shops located in these buildings. We came across some casual wear and shoes shop with really good bargain. Unfortunately, we do not have time for shopping today.
Spotted a few casino building here too. I wonder what is their policy on casino in Bern?
On Bridge kirchenfeldbrücke. This place is just so beautiful.
At last, 12pm. Showtime!!!

Lunch at Coop supermarket. Frm google map : Coop City Marktgasse, Marktgasse 24, 3011 Bern I actually wanted to go to the Coop Restaurant near the train station but we ended up with this because this was the 1st looking good eating place that we came across on the way back to the train station. We were actually kind of disorientated and it was so hot that we just go with the flow. In Bern, there were quite a number of Coop & Migros "good to go food" take away counters. We did check out one at Migros but the food did not appeal to us, and Coop was the next that we came across. The poke was something that we wanted to try and the seating arrangement looked clean and nice.
A little disappointed with the bread though. Chewy and not crispy. The poke were just food that keep our stomach full, nothing to praise about. Supermarket food and it cost us apx CHF47 about SGD70. Is this the normal price for Switzerland casual dining food? Even if we take away the excange rate, in Singapore SGD47 can buy us quite alot of delicious hot and cooked food. Ok, time to leave Bern and take a train to Zermatt.
By the way, we planned our route in advance and ended up getting lost We still enjoyed our walk in this beautiful place called Bern.
How to get there -
Bern train station is about 1.5 hour away from Zurich Airport.
Aeon Tebrau shopping mall, JB Malaysia We read that this Mall is twice the size of Aeon Bukit Indah. Though I was able to read blogs on how big it is, I was not able to find its directory. AEON may have its website but I just cannot find its tenant list. So here is the tenant list that I manage to get when I was there recently. Though they have only 3 level, it is big enough for us to walk the whole day, practically shop until we drop. Ground floor 1st floor 2nd floor If you are food lover like me, you will find this place a food heaven. Especially you only pay 1/3 of the price for restaurant food we have to pay over in Singapore. Click here on what we ate at Aeon Tebrau . There are seats for shoppers to rest if you are tired Other than Padini, Uniqlo and other big brands, I found a new Jap brand here. The price range is just like Uniqlo but I feel the material for Co Co is better. Aeon Tebrau, I will come back again. Perhaps when I plan my n
Taipei Day 2 - 10 August 2017 1. Carrefour at Ximending 2. Ah Zhong Mian Xian near Pacific Sogo 太平洋SOGO 忠孝館 3. ATT 4Fun shopping Mall Our 1st day waking up in Taipei, feeling very excited to try whatever we already have in mind in Taipei. 1. Carrefour at Ximending Decided to visit this place as the Top priority as I just love grocery shopping when I am in another country. I love looking at what supermarket sell. Most of the time, I can find fresh fruits and alot of refreshment that we cannot find here. If not, just compare the prices and I can be very happy. You can say I "xiao". But thats me. Following the hint of another blogger, I took exit 1 at Ximending MRT station. Then used the google map to guide me walk there. Its about 10 to 15mins walk. Carrefour building So excited with this. Different kinds of drip coffee at reasonable prices. Chun Tsui coffee/tea. Only at NT22. Singapore is selling at $2.75 to $3+ 😲 Huge mangoes size of a
171202 - This time we walk around the whole reservoir. I guess it is about 11km. Took 4 hours to finish the whole course. Walk around the whole reservoir. Start from Venus Drive, go southwards to MacRitchie Reservoir, continued westward via Lornie Trail, then northwest to Golf Link, east to Sime Track and back to Venus Carpark. We took 4 hours. Feel so good. Spotted durian trees with lots of durian at Drongo Trail. One guy told us he climb and flip over the waist high fence from the boardwalk to check on the top right fruit but realised it has been eaten by some animals. After Drongo Trail, head southwards via MacRiche Nature Trail. You see such scenery until...... Joggers from school running fast n asking ppl to give way to them. That really spoil our peace n slowed down our walk. So it would be better to walk around 4pm if we like to explore this trail. About 1.5 hour time, we reach MacRitchie Reservoir Park. I guess we can do it within 1 hour if not because o
