31st Aug 2022. Wednesday.
27 degrees celsius. Felt warm with the sun around.
This street in Bern, where the zytglogge is located . We decided to come back to Bern for some shopping since we spotted some cheap hiking shoes when we visited on 25 Aug and cannot find any good place to shop in Zurich. It was more relax on this day, so I started to observe their buildings and street. Noticed this rather interesting street. 1. Fountains located in the middle of the road. Pedestrians walked along this street and whenever a tram passed by, everyone will give way without any reminder. Then if you like, you can drink the water from the water fountain. 2. Building was built across a slope. At the lower area, we can see the doors of the unit from the road. At the higher end, the doors were mounted against the floor.
When the ground is higher, this is the kind of door they build. So interesting. What if we don't know, step on its door?
Lunch at Sous Sol, located in Bern Station. Lunch was some random place at Bern Train station building. Cafe only serve 1 main course a day, so we have no choice but to order 2 of their mains for the day. Language for menu was in German and we tried google translate, it was supposed to be chicken and rice, but ended up as sausage and rice. Never mind, we just need to eat to fill our stomach, rice is a little hard we still have to eat.
This building kept catching my attention while we walk about shopping in Bern.
Alfresco dining can be spotted here even under the hot sun. Not that bad when the streets was not too crowded compared to Zurich.
Mobile fitting rooms supporting ongoing sales event. If I am not wrong, these are pre-loved clothes.
Dosenbach. The hiking shoe shop that we spotted on day 1. We didn't know the shop holds such a wide collection of sports shoes and hiking shoes. We were spoilt for choices. We bought hiking shoes from sales, only CHF34.95 and CHF49.95. Their Nike, Adidas, Fila shoes were also so much cheaper than those sold in SG. Now I am regretting not buying another pair of sports shoes home. We came across a clothing shop "C&A" on our 1st visit in Bern, something like our Uniqlo here. Unfortunately, when we visit again on 31st Aug, they have replace all their merchandise into autumn wear, which is not suitable for us to wear in SG. So nothing for us to shop.
Aldi supermarket. Was thirsty, we came across Aldi while looking for drinking water. The groceries sold here was cheapest if I compared to the other 3 brands we came across. The hot snack corner has so much goodies on display that we couldn't help but to buy them though we were not hungry. We only ate them in train while on our way back to Zurich(yes, we can eat in the train). It was so delicious.
Dinner was ZFC chicken. It was alreday 7pm when we reached Zurich HB station. Zurich HB station is so huge. We got lost in the station again, cannot figure out which was the nearest exit to our hotel again. There isn't any exit number that we can identify. (If there is, then it must be well hidden). Dinner? We wanted to try the Zurich fried chicken. Since ZFC operate as a take away concept(with only a few small tables for dining in), we bought some salad from Migros to eat with in our hotel. Zurich fried chicken was good!!
My YouTube video of Bern for 25 Aug and 31st Aug.
Shopping in summary for Bern.
In Bern, shopping was not crowded during the time we visited. This was the reason why we love shopping here, no crowd, less stressful. We did not cover the whole area for shopping. Only visited the shops to get things that we were interested.
Would love to be based here if I have the chance to travel to Switzerland again.
Aeon Tebrau shopping mall, JB Malaysia We read that this Mall is twice the size of Aeon Bukit Indah. Though I was able to read blogs on how big it is, I was not able to find its directory. AEON may have its website but I just cannot find its tenant list. So here is the tenant list that I manage to get when I was there recently. Though they have only 3 level, it is big enough for us to walk the whole day, practically shop until we drop. Ground floor 1st floor 2nd floor If you are food lover like me, you will find this place a food heaven. Especially you only pay 1/3 of the price for restaurant food we have to pay over in Singapore. Click here on what we ate at Aeon Tebrau . There are seats for shoppers to rest if you are tired Other than Padini, Uniqlo and other big brands, I found a new Jap brand here. The price range is just like Uniqlo but I feel the material for Co Co is better. Aeon Tebrau, I will come back again. Perhaps when I plan my n
Taipei Day 2 - 10 August 2017 1. Carrefour at Ximending 2. Ah Zhong Mian Xian near Pacific Sogo 太平洋SOGO 忠孝館 3. ATT 4Fun shopping Mall Our 1st day waking up in Taipei, feeling very excited to try whatever we already have in mind in Taipei. 1. Carrefour at Ximending Decided to visit this place as the Top priority as I just love grocery shopping when I am in another country. I love looking at what supermarket sell. Most of the time, I can find fresh fruits and alot of refreshment that we cannot find here. If not, just compare the prices and I can be very happy. You can say I "xiao". But thats me. Following the hint of another blogger, I took exit 1 at Ximending MRT station. Then used the google map to guide me walk there. Its about 10 to 15mins walk. Carrefour building So excited with this. Different kinds of drip coffee at reasonable prices. Chun Tsui coffee/tea. Only at NT22. Singapore is selling at $2.75 to $3+ 😲 Huge mangoes size of a
171202 - This time we walk around the whole reservoir. I guess it is about 11km. Took 4 hours to finish the whole course. Walk around the whole reservoir. Start from Venus Drive, go southwards to MacRitchie Reservoir, continued westward via Lornie Trail, then northwest to Golf Link, east to Sime Track and back to Venus Carpark. We took 4 hours. Feel so good. Spotted durian trees with lots of durian at Drongo Trail. One guy told us he climb and flip over the waist high fence from the boardwalk to check on the top right fruit but realised it has been eaten by some animals. After Drongo Trail, head southwards via MacRiche Nature Trail. You see such scenery until...... Joggers from school running fast n asking ppl to give way to them. That really spoil our peace n slowed down our walk. So it would be better to walk around 4pm if we like to explore this trail. About 1.5 hour time, we reach MacRitchie Reservoir Park. I guess we can do it within 1 hour if not because o
