Rhine Falls, Switzerland. Day 7/9. 25 Aug to 2 Sep 2022.

 31 Aug 2022. Wednesday.
18 to 27 degrees celsius. Rainy morning. sunny afternoon.
Rhine Falls. A view from the southern banks.
A little tricky on public transport to Rhine Falls as SBB App do not have a station named after Rhine Falls. So it is advisable to read up before embarking on the trip. I found the official website for Rhine falls.  https://rheinfall.ch/en/information/arrival/by-train.html
Found the transportation information for the north and south entrances. Since the "waterfall roar" is at the southern bank, I decided to start from here. The name of the train station at southern bank is Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall.
Based on SBB App, the ride is only 50mins.
Ever since we stepped into Switzerland, the train rides were so smooth that we never paid attention to any announcement while travelling.

The number of stops to Rhein fall for S12.
Somehow, all the passengers left their seats in our cars at Winterthur station and the train did not move for quite a long time. Thanks to a Swiss elderly man. Not knowing that he was trying to communitcate with us in German language, we never paid attention to him. In the end only my 1st daughter got the message when he spoke in English "get out". Then we realised that we were supposed to leave the train. When we got out of the train, we saw the departure of the 1st few cars of S12.  The cars that we rode in was still at Winterthur station. Perhaps, there was an announcement that we were supposed to move to the 1st few cars to continue the journey? We did not find the answer.
Daughter #1 acted fast. Using the SBB App, she managed to find another train S33 to the our intended destination. It was still raining while on our way to Rhine Falls. Agricultue farms started to appear before us as we move further away from Zurich. Nice to see the less crowded place again.

Rhine Falls Southern Banks Entrance.
Southern banks entrace is located only a few steps away from Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall train station. We were served by a ticketing kiosk, no service crew around. CHF5 entrance fee per person. Use the ticket to scan the bar code at the entrance gantry next to the ticketing kiosk to enter the park.
Just a few steps upon entering the park, we were greated by the roaring sounds of water. We were amazed by what we saw. Tons and tons of water gushed down the river from the right, flow towards the left. We were speechless by this sight. Park has constructed proper stairs for visitors to explore the river banks.

Walking down the flight of stairs led us to a viewing deck, built close the the rocky bed of the river where water will pour in front of us. This was so amazing.

Imagine water pouring infront of us.

To explore the northern banks, we need exit southern banks entrance, take the lift next to the ticketing kiosk up to the castle. From the castle, we track down to the river where the bridge(Rheinbrücke bei Laufen) was. Cross the bridge and we arrived at the northern banks.

I love the feel of walking on this bridge, next to the river and the train track.

A picture of the river after crossing Rheinbrücke bei Laufen. This picture would be perfect if it was taken in autumn.

Another picture after crossing the bridge. Beautiful even if the leaves were not autumn leaves.

Bottom picture : View towards the restaurant at the northern banks.

It was end of summer and we can still spot flowers around us. Pine tree with fruits. My first time seeing green ones.

Neuhausen Rheinfall station.
We spent about more than 2 hours just walking along the river banks here. Time to go shopping. To reach the northern train station, we need to take a lift from northern banks. While walking towards the station, we spotted 2 goats.
Rhine Falls, northern banks.
Took this picture inside the train. Northern banks has its beauty too.
Nature is so amazing. Something that we cannot experience in SG.

Rhine Falls in summary.
Highly recommended to visit when visiting Switzerland.
Something that you can only experience when you are there. Nothing can replace this feelings.
