A short hike at Zermatt, Switzerland. Day 2/9. 25 Aug to 2 Sep 2022.
26 Aug 2022, Friday 5pm. 18 degrees celsius. No sunshine after rain, so we need to wear a scarf and a jacket to keep warm.

| A short hike in Zermatt. Highlands next to the train station. Just opposite our hotel, next to the train station, there is this highland with tracks meant for hiking. This place has no trees thus making it best to view Zermatt valley while hiking. We realised it was quite dangerous to track to the higher ground without the tracking sticks. The track seems to be sandy by small stones, making the path rather slippery. We can easily slip if not careful. |

| We were here for only 2 nights meaning only 1 day for Zermatt. The heavy rain stopped around 4.30 to 5.00pm. We need to enjoy Zermatt outdoors before sunset about 8.15pm. Either we do it or we will never get to do it. |

| A view of our hotel from the highlands next to train station. Actually it was still drizzling at around 5pm. We decided to go ahead for a short hike nearby. I only realised that this trail will lead to Tasch after my search in google map back in SG. |

| Zermatt valley view. Funny how a lot of youtubers like to show the Zermatt valley view from Furi. During our hike, we realised that the view was as awesome at our location. Need not to be at Furi alone. |

| Common black birds. Seems to be very common here, but all lifer for me. There were a few pine trees in front of our rooms balcony. When we returned about 7pm, these birds were calling and attracted our attention. |

Good weather and birding oppotunities with longer daylight, Sunset was around 8.15pm. So glad our hotel faced some pine trees where birds like to visit during our stay. |

| Dinner. I continued to have porridge since my stomach has not recovered. My hubby shared my porridge with me as he wanted some hot soupy food. We got a packet of cured meat at only CHF2.95 and 4 of us cannot finish it. It was so cheap in Switzerland. Children decided to try out cold pasta, tacos with guacamole. The guacamole cost only less that CHF3 and is 90% avocado based. I don't think we can get these in SG. |
What is my thought about Zermatt?
1. A nice place to visit for hiking during Sep where the weather can be cooler. (But then, all the birds may have migrated).
2. Best to book a hotel with cooking facilities so that we can have some home cooked food. Food at restaurant are really overpriced.
3. Bring along the hiking sticks for hiking. Really nice mountains for hiking.
