26 Aug 2022, Weather forecast for Klein Matterhorn -  0 to 3 degrees celsius with heavy rain at around 11am. A trip to Klein Matterhorn via cable car from Zermatt. We set off around 8.30am, temperature at 13 degrees celsius. A bright sunny morning. Since weather forecast predited that there will be rain around 11am, we hope to make it to Klein Matterhorn before it rains. To get to Klein Matterhorn, first, we need to get to Matterhorn cable car station at Zermatt. Not checking any map, we just start off by walking along the town towards Matterhorn direction. Only when we reached Matterhorn Museum(Bottom left picture), we decided to check Google map on how to proceed. We ended up going uphill to some old villages(Bottom right picture).  From here, w as able to view the river below (Top right picture) with hikers going towards the cable car station direction like us. We stayed on the 1st level, the balcony can be seen in this picture above (Top left). Opposite the main road is the camping site where people set up tents and camp overnight. (Top and bottom right picture). This made the hotel environment not so congested with buildings, my 1st impression of the cosy environment which the hotel owns. We booked the family room, made up of 2 bedrooms, with 1 bedroom complete with a small partition for cooking. There is a walkway that link these 2 rooms together. We paid CHF378 per night, the cheapest accomodation among the 3 hotels we stayed for our whole trip. The hotel gave us a very cottage feel when we entered its door (Top Left picture).   25 Aug 2022, Thursday, 27 degrees celsius when we reached at around 5pm. The sun was still hot. The temperature drops when we went out for a walk after checkin, about 7pm. Zermatt. A view from our balcony upon check in.  We will be staying 2 nights at Hotel Arca & Solebad. Visp station. With the SBB App and Swiss Travel Pass, it was so easy for us to travel from one place to another via train. We just need to click the App, we will be able to find which train to take, at what time and which platform. See my train guide. It took slightly more than 2 hours to reach Zermatt from Bern. We need to make a transfer from Visp Station, catch a special train meant for Zermatt. From Bern to Visp Station took 1 hour and another 1 hour from Visp to Zermatt. The crowd from Bern station is big (we do not have a seat until Lake Thun). Many of them will stop at Lake Thun and Spiez while we head towards Visp station.  Let me share this. 25th August 2022, Thursday, 22 degrees celsius. Sun was very hot. Real feel is like 30 degrees celsius with scorching hot feel on our skin. Bern, a view of its river from kirchenfeldbrücke (bridge). 25 Aug 2022, Thursday. About 11am. It was about 22 degrees celsius but the sun was so hot that it felt like 30 degrees celsius. Bern train station was big. We got lost when we arrived. The train staion building was actually next to the train platform. I guessed it was not facing the train platform where we alighted. So we cannot see any name on its building. We ended up in the wrong building(next to the platform) wanting to use the lockers at Migros supermarket. Apparently, Migros staff was not happy to see us. Told us it is not a tourist locker and refuse to speak with us when we seek their help on how to get to the train station building. Nevermind. We head back to the train platforms. 25 August 2022, Thursday. Like any other travellers, was so excited being able to travel after 2 long years. So happy when I saw that our plane was already in the skies of Zurich. As a kiasi(scared to die) Singaporean, I fly with Singapore airlines. Just in case..... This time we fly to Zurich via Economy Premium and will fly back from Zurich via Economy. Not because I am rich, rather, our dates were inflexible. So when the fares suddenly increase from $1030+- to $1340+-, we decided to fly premium at $1409.40 to Zurich. Afterall, it make sense to rest properly before our trip so that we can visit all the attractions without feeling jetlag. In the end, the difference in flying premium and normal economy was -  we got a bottle of mineral water and a better headset for inflight entertainment with some extra leg space.
