Hiking / Birding Journal 11 Mar 2022, Friday (Part 2/3) Chestnut Nature Park (CNP)

Knowing that I have not been to CNP, WC decided to drive to CNP to show me where best to park our car if I were to visit with my hubby on weekends while on the way to Hindhede Nature Park. As she drove into the CNP car park, I suggested that we should track CNP since we were already here. The weather is good and lets not waste our trip.

There have been no post of wildlife at CNP from the FB group, so we do not expect any wildlife here. Just forest and us.

Greeted by this natural habitat just steps away from the car park.

Not sure how old were the trees here. We do come across monkeys and wild boars.
I tried taking a picture of them, but my fear overtook my actions. So I walked on without any pictures.

What attracted me was the natural stream here. The water is so clear and there were sand bed in the stream.

This part of the stream looked exactly like the stream in front of my old Punggol house in our farmland before the pig farmers moved in. We spent some time looking at the water before we moved on.
At one of the bridge, we spotted this Skink.

While hiking along the stream, we spotted a Common Emerald couple here ~ a pleasant surprise for us.

At one point, the bridge was closed. This prevent us from continuing our trail as a loop.

Since WC was here before with her hubby, she led me by walking towards the road, and walk through alongside the fence to continue the journey.

Perhaps it is the rain?

Mushrooms can be seen everywhere. So pretty!
I like this hanging bridge.

Before we complete our trail, this Racket-tailed Drongo showed himself. There is a couple here.

A Green Crested Lizard was spotted just before we complete our trail.

To conclude, CNP is not accessible to public transport. We need to drive in from Petir Road, through Chestnut Avenue. It is a quiet park. So better to visit with company. Inside the hiking trail, there are no shelters or toilet. Thought small park, it is better to check the weather forecast before hiking there.

I enjoyed my hike here and would definitely return to enjoy the streams here.  With some luck, to meet more wildlife here as well.

Check out the two other trails.
