Photography diary 9 Mar 2022 Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park

Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park is divided into 2 parks by Marymount Road. The west park is located just below the Lower Pierce Reservoir where water will run from there into Kallang river flowing across the park from the west to the park in the east. I normally prefer to visit the park in the west due to its diversity in wildlife. As it is also located near temples, there are also landscape that is good for photography.

Kallang River as printed in google map.
I find this river unique in Singapore.

There is this new MRT station that is only located behind this park. So I decided to try out travelling via MRT here.
Just need to exit via Exit 1, turn left and I am already at the car park behind the park.
Walking across the carpark will lead me to this bridge. I am already in the park.

Cleansing Biotope
According to Npark, this wetland is created for the treatment of pond water. I love this wetland as I can find the munias and waxbill here. However, I have no luck today. Grub, the eatery that has been here for quite a while has move out. Waiting for the next restaurant to start running here.

Eurasian tree sparrow (Juvi)
Found this cutie at the wetlands. I couldn't help but to take a picture of it.

I started to explore towards the west end, left side of bridge from entrance via MRT.
Greeted with a tree with Herons nest on top. Be careful - you may be the lucky one to get the dropping on your head.

The Lotus pond.
Can be found at the far end nearer to Lower Pierce Reservoir.
A place to seek shelter when it rains. (There isn't alot of shelter here)

White lotus from the lotus pond.

Pink Lotus from the pond.

Lotus bulb.

A few trees that I love to explore when I am around here. Spotted a number of birds here during different season.

This season, spotted Oriental magpie-robin couple here.
Female (Top) Male (Bottom).
Spotted quite a number of Asian Brown Flycatcher on my last trip here. Today, there isn't any flycatcher, only this couple.

Kallang river towards Bishan

Back to the bridge and spotted this Purple Heron standing so gracefully.

Now whole body shot.

Water level is high at the pond area today.
I have the chance to observe water gushing out into Kallang River.

Was glad to have a chance to play with water stream picture.

Yellow Bittern.
Near the stream area, caught this Bittern with a earth worm. Almost missed it.

Tse Tho Aum Temple.
Feel peaceful when I look at it while sitting at the stream area.

Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery.
From another angle, my camera is able to zoom in to the dragon.

A community club and a junior college in a park.

A private housing in the park.

Spotted this beautiful Striated Heron while strolling along the pond. Look at its feathers, so beautifully designed.

Striated Heron - looking for food.

No water dispenser in this park. Only this one and only vending machine at the one and only toilet here. So we need to bring along our own water bottle if we need to drink plain water. The day I visited, the machine also do not sell mineral water.
