Hiroshima Yamaguchi 180324 to 180402

We are blessed with good weather for the whole 10 days trip. Were surprised, that unlike in Tokyo, cherry blossom comes with plenty of rain. In Yamaguchi and Hiroshima, the weather was dry. Weather here was cold when we arrived in 24 Mar, having to wear jackets meant for winter. Late Mar, temperature rose and we need to get thinner long jacket to wear. 

Mar 24 2018 - Our flight depart via Changi Terminal 2 at 2.15am and landed at Hiroshima Airport arriving at 9.30am. After spending some time at the Hiroshima Airport and Hiroshima Station, we reach the hotel via taxi at nearly 3pm. We decided to rest and relax nearby our hotel for the rest of the day as we also need to catch some sleep after a long flight.

Mar 25 2018 - Visit Akiyoshido - A place to view mother nature.

Akiyoshido Cave - an amazing cave stretch 1 km inside the cave. We need to ascend and descend the steps inside the cave, which make us think we may have walked for more than 2 km.
Akiyoshido Plateau  - Located just above the Akiyoshido Cave is the Plateau. The vast lands of the Akiyoshidai Plateau are dotted with limestone pinnacles. Something not to be missed. 

Mar 28 2018 -Iwakuni Kintai Bridge and Iwakuni Castle Yamaguchi
Just happened to see a picture of the 5 arch bridge and decided to check it out. 

I checked out Japan Guide and it said "The Kintaikyo Bridge (錦帯橋, Kintaikyō) has been Iwakuni's most distinguished landmark and a subject of admiration for hundreds of years" Yes, a amazing place to explore.

Mar 26, 2018 - Uminonakamichi Seaside Park

If you love flowers, this park is for you.Located in northern park of Fukuoka. A very big park, so if you cannot walk a lot, better to rent a bicycle.

Mar 27 2018 - Hagi Castle Ruin, Hagi, Yamaguchi

Located in a remote town in Yamaguchi, famous for its old castle town. But my highlight for this trip is able to see oranges on the plants and old buildings.

Mar 29, 2018 - Onomichi, Senkoji Park

A much talk about place for sakura viewing in Japan. Indeed, it is so beautiful when we visited during full bloom. The whole mountain is full of cherry blossom. Is this real? I have been asking myself when I was there. 

Mar 30 2018 - Miyajima Island, Mt Misen

We visited the Tori Gate, we took a ropeway up Mt Misen and hike down the mountain.

Mar 31 2018 - Hiroshima Peace Park

I would interpret this park as a park to remember people who died during the 2nd world war.


Mar 24 to Apr 2 2018 - Food Diary
Travel to me must come with tasting of local food. I have a great time eating Japanese local food. Here is what we ate during our trip.

Reflection
Another unplanned trip. Happened when I saw the Silk Air promotion at $518 direct flight from Singapore to Hiroshima. The travel dates decided by Silk Air - cause it is only these dates that has got the $518 promo. So we decided to book without thinking. Our trip ended well. We traveled from Hiroshima to Yamaguchi to Hakata to Onomichi. I have read up enough to plan these trips. What a enjoyable experience.
