171209 to 171213 - Khao Lak

Booked the offer Silk Air air ticket to Phuket at only $160+ per person and off we go to Khao Lak during peak season. Well offer ticket always comes with a price - we depart 6.30pm and by the time we reach Phuket, it is already dark. It was already 7.30pm phuket time when we touch Phuket international airport.  This trip came with a little surprise. It was raining heavily when the plane started to land. Suddenly there is a "Thud" sound, like something hit on our plane. YH told me it is lightning. Wow. So scary. Then our luggage  was drenched, real wet when we claimed them. Lucky me, I packed all my belongings in plastic bags. Otherwise all will be wet. Upon arrival, we bought a Prepaid SIM card for unlimited data at only 199 Baht for 7 Days. How is that. Good deal huh?  The Nasi Lemak served by Silk Air was good. Another surprise when we started our journey from the airport. Flood!!! Lucky, it happened on a short stretch only. Driver Mong of Beyond Resort Khaolak told us

171211 Bang Niang Market Khao Lak

Bang Niang Market - Just a few minutes away from Khao Lak Town. Understand it is only opened 3 times a week. Saturday, Monday and Wednesday. It is also located near to the Tsunami Memorial Park. Understand from Hotel staff that it is a day market, and will close at 8pm. We were there on Monday 5pm. Look just like our Singapore's Pasa Malam.  Plenty of cooked food  The usual tourist stuff selling in this market.  We see more human traffic over here. Tourist especially from europe love to chill out here Can find some restaurant near Bang Niang Market. Apparently, restaurant food here cost more than Khao Lak Town. And because of Bang Niang Market, you can only see a handful of tourist dine in the restaurant. My favourite food stall. Thai desserts. The Mango sticky rice is huge. T We bought a huge chicken thigh for only 35 baht The 3 desserts only cost us 130 Baht and chicken thigh at 35 Baht. Total 165 baht for 2 person. We threw away almost 1/3 of

171210 Khao Lak Town

Khao Lak Town- Paid 120 baht per person per way for hotel shuttle bus for a 15mins ride here. Very quiet place though it is the peak season. Compared to my trip few years back during off peak season, I see more shops and motor vehicles.  We need to be very careful when crossing the roads.  New retail space like this is open with no tourist.  Guess who would want to shop with them if you do not want to engage in bargaining? I walk off and decided not to engage in any interest in any goods after one stall owner quote me 500 baht on one imitation Addidas shorts. Saw a couple of new entry like a supermarket selling imported goods (top left pic). I managed to get my green tea here.  Decided to have our lunch here at 4pm Good tasty meal here at only 375 baht including 2 drinks Only the next day, we found  out tourist prefer to visit Bang Niang market where the happenings were. No wonder it is so quiet here. However if we want better and cheaper food, Khao Lak town i

Khao Lak, located at the West Coast of Thailand. One hour and 30 mins travelling northwards from Phuket International Airport. Beach at Beyond Resort Khao Lak The beach do not have fine powdery white sand. You find stripes of clear soft sand and stripes of sea shells. With carefull navigating, we can find a soft sand spots to swim in the calm clear water sea. The calm clear water is still worthwhile for us to spend our holidays here enjoying a good swim here. Choose to indulge at the beach. Ice cream from resort's mini mart. Sunbathing  on the beach, sometimes you wonder are you in Thailand or in European country. We are here on the 3rd day, we are still the only asian Beyond  Resort garden. Breakfast in the gardens with birds eyeing at our food  Sweet tropical fruits n fishy fish porridge Not so great buffet breakfast- Though lots to choose from If you want me to recomend, then coffee and yogurt is recommended Top-

Walking Trail - MacRitchie Reservoir

Image
171202 - This time we walk around the whole reservoir. I guess it is about 11km. Took 4 hours to finish the whole course. Walk around the whole reservoir. Start from Venus Drive, go southwards to MacRitchie Reservoir, continued westward via Lornie Trail, then northwest to Golf Link, east to Sime Track and back to Venus Carpark. We took 4 hours. Feel so good. Spotted durian trees with lots of durian at Drongo Trail. One guy told us he climb and flip over the waist high fence from the boardwalk to check on the top right fruit but realised it has been eaten by some animals. After Drongo Trail, head southwards via MacRiche Nature Trail. You see such scenery until...... Joggers from school running fast n asking ppl to give way to them. That really spoil our peace n slowed down our walk. So it would be better to walk around 4pm if we like to explore this trail. About 1.5 hour time, we reach MacRitchie Reservoir Park. I guess we can do it within 1 hour if not because o
